We’re excited to invite local Support Coordinators to join us for a brunch and tour of Empowerment Home. Come meet our team, explore our space, and learn more about our program.
Support Coordinators, we would love to see you and give you a sneak peak of our new and exciting program.

Empowerment Home is a new adult day program in Bordentown, NJ designed to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building independence, confidence, and meaningful community connections.

We focus on building independence through real-life skills, hands-on experiences, and meaningful daily activities.

Participants engage in cooking, fitness, creative arts, and community-based experiences that support growth and confidence.
Our center includes a kitchen, movement gym, sensory room, learning lab, and creative spaces designed for different interests and abilities.
Participants engage in outings, volunteer opportunities, and real-world experiences that build confidence and connection.
We create opportunities for participants to give back through meaningful projects that spread kindness and purpose.

Our vision is to empower individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live with confidence, independence, and purpose. By focusing on practical skills, positive relationships, and healthier lifestyles, we create opportunities for participants to thrive in every part of their lives and to be valued members of their communities.

At Empowerment Home, we are committed to providing services that make a real difference. Our mission is to train and support staff in four key areas that matter most: Managing Behaviors, Developing Transferable Life and Job Skills, Encouraging Healthy Habits, and Building Community Relationships. Through these focus areas, we help each person grow, succeed, and belong.

Our team is made up of compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who receive specialized training in behaviors, skills, health, and community inclusion. Each team member is committed to encouraging growth, respecting individuality, and supporting participants in ways that honor their goals and strengths. Together, we create an environment where staff and participants learn, grow, and thrive every day.

Our dragonfly logo represents growth, resilience, and the ability to thrive in all seasons of life. Like the dragonfly, we help our participants adapt, grow, and embrace new opportunities as they spread their wings.

At Empowerment Home, we believe Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) should be equipped with more than the basics. That’s why we developed Everyday Empowerment: Training DSPs for Real-Life Impact — a four-part training series that prepares our team to make a difference where it matters most.
Our DSPs are trained to support participants in living healthier, more independent, and more connected lives by focusing on four essential areas.
Challenging behaviors are often a way of communicating needs. We teach our staff to:
Recognize the triggers and functions of behaviors.
Use proactive strategies to prevent escalation.
Stay calm, respectful, and consistent when responding.
Teach replacement skills like coping strategies and communication tools.
This training ensures our DSPs handle real-world scenarios with confidence, patience, and care.
Everyday skills like punctuality, communication, and teamwork are valuable at home, at work, and in the community. Our staff are trained to:
Reinforce independence through task breakdowns and modeling.
Encourage problem-solving and adaptability.
Support budgeting, organization, and responsibility.
These life-ready and work-ready skills prepare participants to succeed across all areas of their lives.
Health and wellness are at the heart of independence. We train our staff to:
Encourage daily routines for nutrition, hydration, activity, and hygiene.
Model healthy choices and celebrate small wins.
Respect autonomy while gently guiding participants toward better decisions.
With this foundation, participants learn to make choices that promote lifelong wellness.
True inclusion means being valued as part of a community. Our staff learn how to:
Support introductions and encourage small talk.
Create opportunities for meaningful neighborhood and community connections.
Fade support over time so participants grow in confidence and independence.
Reinforce safety, boundaries, and reciprocity in relationships.
From greeting a shop owner to volunteering locally, these connections help participants thrive.
This training isn’t just for our staff — it’s for the individuals and families we serve. By focusing on behaviors, skills, health, and relationships, we create an environment where participants:
Feel understood and respected.
Gain practical, everyday independence.
Build healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Belong as valued members of their community.
